Let more overseas doctors work in NHS to fill shortages, say physician colleges

Senior doctors have called on the UK government to increase the number of physicians from outside the European Economic Area who are able to work in the NHS.

In evidence submitted to the Migration Advisory Committee, which is reviewing immigration rules,1 the federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians called for all physician posts to be included on the shortage occupation list—the official list of jobs for which there are not enough UK resident workers to fill vacancies.
