Women requiring a surgical intervention for complications following a midurethral mesh sling procedure have significantly increased risk of new onset depression and self harm compared with those not needing corrective procedures, a Canadian population based study1 has found.
Midurethral mesh sling procedures are the standard treatment for stress incontinence in women, but investigations and regulatory warnings about transvaginal mesh complications have led to ongoing concerns about their safety.
