Re: Is it time to start using the emoji in biomedical literature?
I read with interest Vikas O`Reilly-Shah & Colleagues article on the possibility of using emojis in biomedical literature (Is it time to start using the emoji in biomedical literature - BMJ 15-29 Dec. 2018 p.460).
Let`s face facts, a lot of biomedical articles are quite boring.I remember when i was doing my research job over a decade ago, i was told that the more straight laced and boring the article is, the more likely it is to be published.
I couldn`t agree more with the authors.I think it`s time to move on to a different approach.Whilst i wouldn`t like to see strings of emojis telling an entire story; the occasional appropriate emoji here and there can only help to lighten the "atmosphere" of an article and make it more readable.
