Director of troubled Karolinska hospital resigns

Melvin Samsom, the director of a new hospital model in Stockholm, Sweden, resigned unexpectedly at the end of September, saying that the time was right to move on now that the system he introduced was up and running.
Samsom was recruited four years ago from the Netherlands to lead the implementation of so-called value based healthcare at the New Karolinska Hospital (Nya Karolinska Sjukhuset, NKS) and to manage the move to new premises.1
