No, but he was definitely in—I heard him!” Darrel Orlando Ho-Yen’s laugh was his trademark and could indeed be heard from quite some distance, usually emanating from the canteen at Raigmore Hospital, where no doubt he was engaged in conversation with intrigued colleagues during a lunch of spam fritters. For Darrel, his laugh was more than an expression of joy, it was a tool, cultivated over a lifetime of many highs and lows and where hard work and a fighting spirit were always in abundance.
