Another one of our greats gone Re: Julian Tudor Hart: visionary general practitioner who introduced the concept of the “inverse care law”
Along with Cochrane and Doll, we have lost another great and compassionate British doctor. Julian Tudor-Hart was actually my GP when I grew up in the village of Cymmer Afan (2 miles from Glyncorrwg) and my father worked alongside him as a local councillor. He was the epitomy of a sincere man who practised what he preached, and worked with the local community with respect and passion.
I remember learning his inverse case law when I was a medical student. When I started research in dermatology, I said that the quantity and quality of research was inversely proportional to its importance and NHS need. Thankfully things have changed a lot now thanks to commissioned research from the NIHR.
