Matt Hancock, the new secretary of state for health and social care for England, believes that political progress depends on focusing on “the big questions” and not being “drawn down rabbit holes.”

Hancock, 39, has no history of working in health policy or with the NHS and has not previously worked in the Department of Health and Social Care.
