BMA members have called for a review of mental health support provided to medical students after hearing personal stories of unmet need at their annual representative meeting in Brighton this week.

The meeting passed a motion calling for research into the types of mental health issues experienced by medical students, basic training for clinical facilitators so they can better support students, and extended opening hours for student health services for those studying medicine, who are often unable to comply with a 9 to 5 timetable.
