Between 618 and 777 practices in England will be lost between now and 2022 if funding for general practice is not increased, the BMA has warned.
If the projections, which are based on data from NHS Digital, play out then millions of patients will need to find a new practice, it said. The data show that there were 166 fewer practices in 2017 (7361) than in 2016 (7527), while the total number of practices had fallen by 963 since 2010, when England had 8324.1
