Loneliness is a public health epidemic, and a national campaign is needed to raise awareness of the issue, the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) has said.
The college has published an action plan setting out how loneliness may be tackled and warns that, along with social isolation, it may be as bad for patients as chronic health conditions.1
