The BMJ Awards: mental health service for doctors wins 2018 award

The practitioner health service was one of 15 winners at the 2018 BMJ Awards. The service won the Mental Health Team of the Year award for its work, through the NHS Practitioner Health Programme, with doctors who experience stress, mental illness, or addiction.

The programme was first launched in 2008 by Clare Gerada, its medical director, as a mental health and addiction service for London doctors. In 2016 the service was expanded to include a health and wellbeing service for all trainees in London and the south east, and in 2017 it was extended to all GPs and trainees in England.
