Having seen my mother go from someone who had a very fulfilling life to a tormented soul and then unable to do anything or know anyone, I realised how important dignity in dying was. We the loved ones suffered so much seeing her like that; she knew what was going to happen to her and kept crying about having to live with it. If she had been offered an exit she would have taken it. If it ever happens to me I want to say goodbye to my family before I am ravaged by whatever in familiar surroundings with my loved ones. Use the medical funds you would save on the gift of life, IVF, transplants, etc., not on prolonging the agony. We should have the right to choose, and doctors should support us.
