UN pledges to tackle environmental health risks

The United Nations and World Health Organization are to work together to tackle environmental health risks such as air pollution and vector borne diseases.

WHO and UN Environment signed an agreement in Nairobi, Kenya on 10 January for closer collaboration and will establish a joint programme as well as an annual high level meeting to curb the environmental risks that are linked to around 12.6 million deaths each year, mainly in lower and middle income countries.
