Progress on malaria stalls amid decline in funding

Malaria cases across the globe increased by 5 million during 2016, suggesting a slowdown in the progress of global malaria control initiatives, a new report suggests.1

The World Malaria Report 2017 by the World Health Organization says that global malaria cases have declined steadily since 2010 (237 million), but there was a significant increase in the number of cases in 2016 (216 million) compared with 2015 (211 million).
