GPs call for end to “local rationing” of prescribing

Local healthcare commissioners should not be able to impose restrictions on general practitioners’ prescribing, GP leaders have demanded.

A motion passed at the conference of England’s local medical committees, which represent GPs, called on the Department of Health for England to undertake a national review of prescribing regulations and entitlements and for clinical commissioning groups to “remove pressure on GPs to reduce or limit clinically appropriate prescribing.”
