Peter Townsend was born in Hove, near Brighton. He was educated at Hove Grammar School until his family moved to Port Talbot, Wales, in 1978. He completed his secondary education at Glan Afan School in Port Talbot. He undertook his medical education at King’s College London.
Peter became a consultant in cardiac anaesthesia and intensive care in Birmingham in 2001. He was pivotal in the early uptake of transoesophageal echocardiography in the department and developed …
