My father, David McGechie Duncan, was born in Glasgow, but grew up in Forfar, Angus, the son of a minister. After qualifying and house jobs in Dumfries, he moved to England, where he spent the rest of his working life. He spent most of it as a GP in what was the small market town of Wellingborough in Northamptonshire.
