Re: Do cancer drugs improve survival or quality of life?

Why are we so surprised that cancer drugs are approved and marketed without significantly reducing patient mortality?
There already exist other classes of pharmaceuticals approved, successfully marketed and widely prescribed, even though they increase patient mortality!
Meta-analysis revealed antidepressants increase all-cause mortality by 33%. [1][2]
