Almost 200 000 children under 5 died from TB in 2015

Nearly 200 000 children aged under 5 died from tuberculosis (TB) in 2015, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa and southeast Asia, a study has shown.1

The mathematical modelling, which showed death rates from TB in under 5s for the first time, found that 239 000 children aged 14 and under died of TB in 2015. Some 80% of these (191 000) were aged under 5.
