Convicted breast surgeon Paterson has sentence increased to 20 years

The rogue breast surgeon Ian Paterson, who mutilated patients with unnecessary operations, has had his 15 year prison sentence increased to 20 years by the Court of Appeal.

The solicitor general, Robert Buckland, referred the case to the court, arguing that the sentence was unduly lenient for offences that were “so serious and exceptional” and should be increased to 20 years or more.
