A new book on the final days of the late South African president Nelson Mandela by his personal doctor has been withdrawn from sale by Penguin Random House South Africa.
It has been alleged that the book, Mandela’s Last Days, breached doctor-patient confidentiality, as permission was not granted by Mandela’s executors or his widow for his medical information to be made public. The book was launched on 18 July, known as Mandela Day (Mandela’s birthday), and was withdrawn less than a week later on 24 July.
