Women from Northern Ireland, where abortion laws are among the most restrictive in Europe, are not entitled to free terminations on the NHS in England, the UK’s highest court has ruled.

The Supreme Court narrowly rejected an appeal by a resident of Northern Ireland who became pregnant at age 15 and obtained a private abortion in England at a total cost of around £900 (€1020; $1150).
