Nut allergy guidelines discourage complete avoidance

Patients with peanut or tree nut allergy should not be advised to avoid all nuts, the first single guidance on managing and preventing nut allergy recommends.
The guidelines,1 drawn up by the British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI), state that, while complete nut avoidance is the safest approach and results in few adverse reactions, this is difficult to achieve and can result in a severely restricted diet.
