NHS in danger of falling behind with out of date scanners, warn experts

Patient care could be held back by ageing scanners used in the NHS, warn imaging experts.
A report1 published by an intercollegiate expert advisory body called the Clinical Imaging Board (CIB) has said that more must be done to future proof the NHS’s capacity to use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to scan patients.
The board—a collaboration between the Royal College of Radiologists, the Society and College of Radiographers, and the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine—carried out a survey of UK radiology teams to measure the state of MRI equipment.
