Doctors at Great Ormond Street children’s hospital in London are entitled to withdraw life support from a baby with a rare genetic disorder, against his parents’ strenuous opposition, a High Court judge has ruled.

Connie Yates and Chris Gard raised more than £1.2m (€1.4m; $1.5m) from crowdfunding to take 8 month old Charlie, who has mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome, to the US for nucleoside therapy. But Mr Justice Francis held that the treatment would not be in his interests.
