National approach to OTC prescribing is needed

Iacobucci’s article highlights the challenges facing clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) as they attempt to save money by restricting GP prescribing of over-the-counter (OTC) medicines.1 Concerns over this piecemeal approach to cost saving were also highlighted in an editorial in the Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin.2
