Spinal manipulation therapy for acute low back pain is associated with modest improvements in pain and function, according to a systematic review and meta-analysis published in JAMA.1

The authors said that the size of the benefit of spinal manipulation therapy for acute low back pain is about the same as the benefit from non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
