US stops funding United Nations Population Fund

The Trump administration is ending US support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), having accused the family planning and sexual health organization of cooperating in China with government programs that are implicated in forced abortions and involuntary sterilization.
The fund, which promotes family planning in more than 150 countries, strongly denied the claims.
The move comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order in January cancelling aid to non-governmental organizations that provide or “promote” abortions, a policy of successive Republican presidents. The Netherlands stepped in to fill …
