More than a third with COPD also have asthma symptoms, study finds

More than a third of adults with newly diagnosed chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) also have asthma symptoms, a general practice study has found.1

The past few years have seen growing recognition that a significant proportion of patients with COPD have features of asthma. But it is not clear how many people have this type of asthma-COPD overlap syndrome, and there is no generally agreed definition.
