Publishing data on avoidable deaths will transform hospital safety, says Hunt

A requirement for all NHS trusts and foundation trusts to publish data on avoidable deaths and harms will transform patient safety, England’s health secretary has said.

Speaking at a Westminster Health Forum conference in London on 26 January, Jeremy Hunt referred to plans, announced last year in a package of measures aimed at improving patient safety,1 that would require the publication of information on avoidable deaths and serious incidents from 31 March.
