Northern Ireland GPs may quit NHS after rescue plan is derailed by government collapse

GPs in Northern Ireland have warned that they may be forced to leave the NHS after plans for an urgent financial rescue package from ministers were thrown into disarray by the collapse of the assembly government.

In December 97% of GPs in the province backed the move to sign undated resignation letters to the NHS in protest at underfunding and workforce pressures that have already forced some practices to close.1
