Researchers aim to grow replacement bone for people injured by landmines

University of Glasgow researchers are using 3D print technology to synthetically grow bespoke bone as part of a project to increase the amount of tissue that can be conserved during reconstructive surgery for landmine injuries.
An estimated 4300 people are injured or killed by landmines every year, such as this boy, Mohammad Mahdi, who lost his foot in a mine explosion in Afghanistan. …
