The UK government must do more to “show its workings” when presenting the case for new policies such as seven day services in the NHS, says a major new review of government transparency.
The review, the first assessment of transparency across UK government, identified wide variation across and within departments that made it difficult for the public and researchers to scrutinise policy proposals.1
