Re: Should healthy people take a vitamin D supplement in winter months?
If the NHS just ignores the advice that certain groups need Vitamin D and will not fund such a seemingly inexpensive already successfully tried and tested treatment - that is sunlight clinics, as described by J K Anand - what is the point of bashing on about preventative health advice? It should be obligatory surely to at least test Vitamin levels so that people can decide what action to take.
Years ago people suffering from SAD (seasonal affective disorder) could buy sunlamps. Maybe they are still available. Would these be useful in this case?
Rather than allow people to suffer the consequences of lack of care maybe groups of people in communities at risk could 'club together' and buy the light equipment. But they need to know there is a problem in the first place.
