One of the responders brings in PARADIGM SHIFT.
Never heard this phrase, nor read it, until in my senescence.
In heaven's name, could it be expunged from medical literature, please?
Then there is ICONIC, It bashes my eyes when I read it. It hurts my ears when I read it. The word has entered medical journalism.
Dear BMJ!
Could you expunge these two unpleasant expressions from your publications please?
Have been reading the BMJ since the 1950s.
