Health Education England has been told by the government that it must produce a plan by September 2017 to reduce the NHS’s reliance on migrant workers.
Earlier this month Jeremy Hunt, health secretary for England, announced plans to increase medical school places by 25% in a bid to expand the number of home grown doctors and to replace doctors recruited from overseas.1
