As Armstrong observes, social media can allow people with rare conditions to connect and share experiences, especially when unstable health makes travel difficult.1

The combined visitor peak to the Addison’s Disease Self-Help Group (ADSHG) website and forum in one day was 443 (www.addisons.org.uk); by contrast, our largest in-person meeting numbered 180.
