As always Margaret Mccartney puts her finger on the button: 'The time for short term political populism must be over. It’s either evidence based policy making, starting with how we treat the staff, or no more NHS.'
Today the Prime Minister, according to the BBC, 'accused ' the doctors of playing politics.
What a stupid remark.
Of course the doctors are playing politics.
And so is she.
And so is her less sharp-witted colleague at the Department of Health.
The difference is that she and the Minister are professionals who earn their living playing the game
The doctors are amateurs, playing the game to protect their patients and preserve the NHS.
Does this government regard politics as a closed shop... a game to be played only by professionals entitled to dismiss uppity amateurs with a wave of a red card?
