GP recruits offered £20 000 to train in Scotland

Incentive payments of £20 000 are being offered to junior doctors who choose to train as general practitioners in areas of Scotland where posts have been hard to fill.
The payments are part of the Scottish government’s response to what has been described as a crisis in GP recruitment which resulted last year in vacancies in a fifth of all practices.1
