Funding of GMC
Light touch regulation may be most effective

The BMA says that the General Medical Council should be funded by the public rather than by doctors.1
Regulatory bodies such as the GMC and medical boards/councils in Australia have a first duty to protect the public. But the public may suffer if doctors—weary of increasing regulations or fearing career destroying inquisitions—shirk their obligations.
