Chancellor’s psychiatrist brother is struck off medical register

Adam Osborne, the psychiatrist brother of the United Kingdom’s chancellor of the exchequer, George Osborne, has been struck off the UK medical register for “blatant disregard of the fundamental tenets of the medical profession.”
Osborne, 39, admitted having a two year sexual and emotional affair with a vulnerable patient he was treating for anxiety and depression at his private psychiatry practice in central London. The woman, referred to as Patient A, took an overdose and was rushed to hospital by ambulance on 9 February 2015, three days after the married psychiatrist ended the affair by email.
After Patient A’s stay in hospital she was admitted to an inpatient psychiatric facility because doctors were concerned about the high risk of self harm.
