The funeral took place on Tuesday 26 January of Clyde Mitchell, a well known and respected GP from Carlisle who had retired to Keswick. The congregation of Clyde’s former colleagues, his Keswick friends, and his extended family was accompanied by the St John’s Church choir, of which Clyde had been a member, under the direction of John Cooper Green.

He was born in Croydon, the eldest of six children. His family moved to Nottingham when he was quite young. A bright student at Nottingham High School, he went on to Oxford University, initially to read physics, but he quickly changed to medicine.
