Over half of English general practices report unmanageable workload

More than half of GP surgeries in England say that their patient care has “deteriorated” in the past 12 months because of an increasing workload, a new survey by the BMA has found.

Some 2840 of 7962 practices in England responded to the survey (a 36% response rate), the latest in a string of polls by the BMA1 designed to draw attention to the pressures facing GPs and to encourage government action to support the profession.
