GP leaders vow to secure more money for general practice

General practice is in a “state of emergency” and needs more cash as well as a major investment plan to save it from long term decline, GP leaders have warned.

Maureen Baker, chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners, and Chaand Nagpaul, head of the BMA’s General Practitioners Committee, described the scale of the problem and the need for action at a special BMA conference of local medical committees, the local representative bodies for GPs, in London on 30 January.
