Frozen faecal matter works as well as fresh for transplantation in C difficile patients

Restoring protective colonic microbiota in patients with recurrent Clostridium difficile infection can be done just as well with transplanted frozen and then defrosted faecal matter as with fresh stools, a study published in JAMA has shown.1 Using frozen faecal microbiota transplantation would remove many of the logistical burdens that clinicians face when preparing fresh material.
