Five London areas to get devolved power over health

The UK chancellor of the exchequer, George Osborne, has laid out plans to devolve health powers to health and civic leaders in London.1

The powers, similar to those granted to Manchester earlier this year,2 will enable health organisations to take more control of decision making, particularly in public health and the integration of health and social care.

The agreement, launched at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, will begin with five devolution pilots focusing on different areas:
