New alliance of 19 health bodies adds voice to call for sugar tax

Nineteen UK organisations concerned with obesity are calling on the government to introduce a 20% tax on sugar sweetened beverages.

The Obesity Stakeholder Group has come together to urge the government to take action, such as new legislation to help families reduce their consumption of food and drink high in fat, salt, and sugar, in the light of the growing epidemic of obesity in the United Kingdom.
