I wholeheartedly agree with McCartney’s observations about appraisal.1 It is time consuming and I know of no evidence that it improves outcomes.
Other GPs have similar concerns. A 2008 survey of GPs found that 11 of 671 responders brought forward retirement plans because of the introduction of appraisal.2 …
