A consultant heart surgeon under investigation by the UK General Medical Council over allegations that he misrecorded data to make his surgical outcomes look better has failed in a High Court attempt to quash part of the verdict of an inquest into the deaths of three patients.
Ian Wilson was a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham until he was sacked in October 2013 after an internal review found misrecording of bypass and other data.1
