Pressure mounts on drug supplies in Greece

Some pharmacies in Greece are being asked to pay suppliers in cash and are facing restrictions on the orders they can place, members of the industry have said. There have also been reports that some patients are unable to meet their share of the cost of drugs and that some people are stockpiling drugs.

However, the government has said that there were currently no signs that the flow of drugs has been affected by the financial uncertainty in Greece, after a meeting on 9 July between Panagiotis Kouroumblis, the health minister, and Konstantinos Lourantos, president of the Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association.
